Our Elegant Party!!!

Learning about letter Ee is alway very exciting!  We learned that letter "e" is another vowel in the alphabet.  We know that vowels are special because they can make two sounds.  We also learned that letter "e" can be magic and remain silent when it appears at the end of words.  We learned that when we make the letter "e" sound we can pretend to crack the egg!  We wanted "e" to be a letter we would never forget so we had an "elegant party".  We discussed how to dress for an elegant party and the manners we needed to use.  We also discussed that elegant parties had special decorations and special party food.
Anxiously awaiting for our Elegant Party to begin!

All dressed up for the special event!

A pretty lady being escorted by 2 handsome gentlemen!

And another couple walk the red carpet!

And another!

And another!!

Just look at that scrumptious menu!

Seated at our beautiful tables!

Using our best manners

Yum...Cavier and Pork Tenderloin!
Chocolate Mouse for dessert!

And now it's time for dancing!!
We danced to the Electic Slide, The Twist, The Chicken, Shout, Hokey Pokey and YMCA

What a great time we had at our Elegant Party!!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

What a fun day we had on Dr.  Seuss' Birthday.  Several of our kids dressed up like Cat in the Hat, Daisy Head Maisy, Cindy Lou Who, Yurtle the Turtle, Thing 1 and Thing 2! We loved hearing the story, Cat in the Hat, read by a High School student.  Then, we made our own
Cat in the Hat pictures!

Dental Health Week!

We had a busy week learning about our teeth.  We learned we must brush, floss and eat good foods so we will have healthy teeth and a beautiful smile.

 We practiced brushing!

 and flossing!

Our taste test!
We tasted lettuce from our school garden

and broccoli too!

 Even the boys liked broccoli...yum!

And we tasted purple cauliflower from our school garden!
Healthy food is pretty good!!!!

And then we did several experiments!!!
We used Coke and a boiled egg to show how foods can stain our teeth.  We learned how important it is to brush our teeth at least 2 times a day.
We observed the egg all week to see
what would happen...

We used a toothbrush and toothpaste
to clean off the Coke stain!
 Brushing and brushing!
Our egg cleaned up pretty good!

The Egg and Vinegar Experiment!
The vinegar caused the shell of the egg to break down and become soft, the same way that tooth enamel is damaged by acid and bacteria in the mouth.
Brushing every day is the only way to keep this from happening.
After a week in the vinegar we observed
what happened to our egg...

 It's smelly!
 It feels soft!
 It's like a rubber egg!
Wow!

Our Apple "Tooth" Experiment!
We used an apple for a tooth model to demonstrate how a cavity forms.
We learned that if bacteria in your mouth creates a hole in the enamel of a tooth, then that tooth will decay and cause a cavity, similar to what happened to the inside of the apple.
