Upcoming Parent/Teacher Conferences!

Just a quick reminder there is no school for students on Monday, October 29!  I look forward to seeing all the parents at our conferences to discuss your child's progress.
Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Science with Susie Sound!

Learning about sound was sensational!!!
Today we visited Mrs. Janak's kindergarten classroom and read about Susie Sound and the Quirkles. We learned that sound is actually waves of energy. Then we did Susie Sound's Musical Glasses Experiment!   We poured different amounts of water in four of the same size drinking glasses. We concluded that the glass with the most water had the highest pitch and the glass with the least amount of water had the lowest pitch. According to the Quirkles, "When the air column is shorter, the air vibrates faster and the pitch is higher. As the height of the air column gets higher, the pitch of the sound gets lower." This was a "fun science learning experiment"!!!
We can't wait to meet "Pressure Pete" next week!!

A is for Alligators

An alligator can be your friend!!!
He likes to sing and dance!
Learning about letter Aa is so much fun especially when you can be an alligator!

A Good Day for Learning!!!

We got "rev up" at the Dr. Jean workshop in Austin!!
Dr. Jean has a strong philosophy that children learn best by doing...you learn on your feet and not on your seat!!!  She believes the more you activate and engage children physically and mentally, the more likely the message will get to the brain and stick!  We are so excited to get back in the classroom to implement some of the songs, ideas and activities we learned.

FIRE PREVENTION WEEK!!

Oh how we love when the Lockhart Firefighters come to visit!!!  We were so excited and could hardly wait for our turn to see the fire truck and the firefighters!!  We learned we need to stop, drop and roll if our clothes ever caught on fire.  We know that we need to have a meeting place at our house to keep our family members safe.  We got see all the safety equipment the fire fighters use to fight fires.  Getting to see a real fire truck up close was really awesome!!!!  Some of us want to grow up and be firefighters!!

IT'S LETTER T WEEK!!

We loved learning about letter Tt and TURTLES!!! We listed all the things we know about turtles and found out that turtles are reptiles and lay eggs.  We know that turtles hibernate when the weather is cold.  They have four legs, a tail and a shell for protection.  We read an informative book to learn more about turtles too.  We even made our own turtle with all the sight words we can read...to, little, a, the, I, am!!

Learning about turtles was terrific!
