Learning about sound was sensational!!!
Today we visited Mrs. Janak's kindergarten classroom and read about Susie Sound and the Quirkles. We learned that sound is actually waves of energy. Then we did Susie Sound's Musical Glasses Experiment! We poured different amounts of water in four of the same size drinking glasses. We concluded that the glass with the most water had the highest pitch and the glass with the least amount of water had the lowest pitch. According to the Quirkles, "When the air column is shorter, the air vibrates faster and the pitch is higher. As the height of the air column gets higher, the pitch of the sound gets lower." This was a "fun science learning experiment"!!!
